Destination Guide

Malaysia offers career opportunities in finance shared services, logistics, technology, manufacturing, aviation, tourism and regional operations, especially around Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Johor. Its culture blends Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous traditions, with English widely used in business. Urban life is convenient and relatively affordable, while beaches, rainforests and islands provide easy weekend escapes. Food, public transport and healthcare are generally accessible, although Kuala Lumpur housing costs vary by location. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass; the sponsoring company handles much of the application process, and approval depends on salary, qualifications and current immigration rules. New arrivals should arrange a valid passport, certified qualifications, medical or background documents when requested, local accommodation and health insurance. Malaysia’s tropical climate is hot and humid year-round, with heavier rain during monsoon periods.
