Destination Guide

Indonesia offers varied career opportunities, especially in Jakarta and nearby Java, where technology, finance, consulting, logistics, and digital businesses are concentrated. Bali attracts professionals in tourism, hospitality, creative work, and remote-friendly roles, while Batam and parts of Sumatra support manufacturing, energy, and trade. Indonesian culture values courtesy, community, family, and respectful communication; English is common in multinational workplaces but Bahasa Indonesia is essential for daily life. Jakarta provides the widest employment market but has heavy traffic and a fast-paced lifestyle. Bali offers a more relaxed environment, though housing and tourism costs can be high. Foreign employees generally need employer sponsorship and an appropriate work visa and permit; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Check current immigration rules before relocating, and arrange health insurance, accommodation, tax registration, and local banking with the employer.
