Destination Guide

Indonesia offers strong opportunities in technology, fintech, e-commerce, logistics, tourism, manufacturing, and shared services. Jakarta on Java is the main corporate and product-management hub, while Bali attracts hospitality, creative, remote-work, and startup professionals. Java also includes Bandung, a growing technology and education center, and Surabaya, an important commercial and industrial city. Sumatra, Sulawesi, and Kalimantan provide opportunities in energy, natural resources, agriculture, logistics, and emerging urban markets. Indonesian culture emphasizes community, respect, hospitality, and religious diversity; English is common in multinational workplaces, although Indonesian is essential for daily integration. Living costs vary significantly, with Jakarta and Bali generally more expensive. Foreign employees usually need employer sponsorship and an appropriate work permit or KITAS; tourist status does not authorize employment. Candidates should confirm immigration rules, healthcare, tax obligations, and relocation support with the employer before moving.
