Destination Guide

Indonesia offers strong opportunities in technology, cybersecurity, finance, logistics, e-commerce, tourism, manufacturing, and renewable energy. Jakarta, on Java, is the main corporate and technology hub, while Bandung, Surabaya, Batam, and Bali also attract digital and international employers. Java provides the widest career market and urban conveniences; Bali offers a more relaxed lifestyle but fewer senior corporate roles. Indonesia’s culture is diverse, community-oriented, and generally polite, with regional languages, cuisines, and traditions across thousands of islands. Living costs vary greatly, with Jakarta and Bali usually more expensive than secondary cities. Foreign professionals normally need employer sponsorship and an appropriate work and residence permit; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Relocation commonly involves employment authorization, tax registration, health insurance, housing, and schooling arrangements. Learning basic Indonesian and respecting religious and local customs makes integration easier.
