Destination Guide

Ireland offers strong opportunities in financial services, banking technology, software development, cybersecurity, data analytics and multinational business operations, especially in Dublin, Cork, Galway and Limerick. The culture is generally friendly, informal and community-oriented, with English widely used in professional life. Ireland provides a good lifestyle with scenic coastlines, historic towns, music, sport and an active social scene, although Dublin accommodation and living costs can be high. EU, EEA and Swiss nationals can generally live and work without an employment permit. Non-EEA applicants usually need an eligible employment permit, such as a Critical Skills Employment Permit, and must meet salary and occupation requirements. Relocating workers should arrange housing early, obtain a Personal Public Service number, open a bank account and review healthcare, tax and transport options. Weather is mild but changeable, so waterproof clothing is useful. Public transport is strongest in major cities, while rural areas often require a car.
