Destination Guide

Although the UAE is not an island, it is a federation of seven emirates with Dubai and Abu Dhabi offering the broadest banking and professional opportunities. Demand is strong in financial services, risk, compliance, technology, consulting, healthcare, logistics and construction. The culture combines Emirati traditions, Islamic values and a highly international workforce; modest dress and respect during Ramadan are advisable. Lifestyle options range from modern city living and beaches to desert activities, with generally warm weather and tax-free personal income. Employment visas are normally sponsored by the employer, while UAE Nationals follow different residency and employment arrangements. New arrivals should confirm health insurance, accommodation, transport, schooling and relocation allowances before accepting an offer. Costs, especially rent, vary considerably by emirate and neighborhood.
