Destination Guide

Malaysia offers career opportunities in banking, shared services, technology, manufacturing, tourism, and logistics. Kuala Lumpur is the main financial and employment hub, while Penang and Johor also attract international companies. The country combines Malay, Chinese, Indian, and indigenous influences, reflected in its food, festivals, languages, and social customs. Daily life is relatively affordable compared with many major financial centers, although central Kuala Lumpur housing costs more. Public transport is convenient in the capital, and the climate is warm, humid, and tropical year-round. Malaysia is not one island: it includes the Malay Peninsula and parts of Borneo, with popular island destinations such as Langkawi, Penang, Tioman, Sabah, and Sarawak. Foreign employees normally require employer-sponsored authorization, such as an Employment Pass, before starting work. New arrivals should confirm sponsorship, medical requirements, tax registration, housing, and dependent arrangements with the employer.
