Destination Guide

Taiwan offers strong opportunities in banking, technology, manufacturing, semiconductors, international trade, and financial services, particularly in Taipei and New Taipei City. Workplace culture is generally relationship-oriented, hardworking, and respectful of seniority, while international firms tend to use more English and have more formal global practices. Taipei provides efficient public transport, convenient healthcare, varied food, and a lively urban lifestyle; living costs are moderate compared with major financial centers, though housing in central Taipei is relatively expensive. Foreign professionals normally need an employer-sponsored work permit and an appropriate resident visa or employment-based residence permit. Employers usually assist with applications, documentation, and onboarding. A valid passport, degree or professional qualifications, employment contract, health checks, and background documents may be required. Learning basic Mandarin is useful for daily life and local client relationships. Taiwan is also known for friendly communities, mountains, beaches, hot springs, and convenient domestic travel.
