Destination Guide

Japan offers strong career opportunities in technology, telecommunications, retail, finance, manufacturing, hospitality, and international business. Tokyo provides the largest job market and highest concentration of global companies, while Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka, and Sapporo offer more affordable alternatives. Japanese workplaces value punctuality, preparation, teamwork, and respectful communication; English is useful but Japanese significantly improves career options. Lifestyle choices range from dense urban neighborhoods to quieter regional communities, with excellent public transport, healthcare, safety, and infrastructure. Living costs are highest in Tokyo, especially for housing. Foreign employees generally need an appropriate work visa, commonly sponsored by their employer, and must meet qualification requirements. Before relocating, arrange housing, resident registration, health insurance, banking, and a phone plan. Japan has four distinct seasons and many cultural traditions, so learning basic Japanese and local etiquette will make daily life and workplace integration easier.
