Destination Guide

Japan offers opportunities in software engineering, cybersecurity, telecommunications, data, finance, manufacturing, tourism, healthcare, and international business, especially in Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, and Fukuoka. The culture values punctuality, reliability, teamwork, respect, and attention to detail. Daily life is generally safe and convenient, with excellent public transport, healthcare, shopping, and food options. Tokyo is highly connected but expensive; regional cities offer lower living costs and a slower pace. Housing deposits, agency fees, and Japanese guarantor requirements can make relocation costly, so employer support is useful. Foreign professionals usually need an appropriate work visa, commonly an Engineer/Specialist in Humanities/International Services visa, sponsored by the employer. Highly skilled workers may qualify for preferential treatment or a faster route to permanent residence. Applicants should prepare translated documents, confirm health insurance and pension enrollment, and research taxes, housing, schooling, and Japanese-language needs before moving.
