Destination Guide

Japan offers opportunities in technology, e-commerce, engineering, finance, supply chain, hospitality, education, and customer operations, especially in Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, and Fukuoka. The country combines modern cities, excellent public transport, safe neighborhoods, seasonal food, and deep traditions in respect, punctuality, and group harmony. Tokyo provides the largest job market but has high housing costs; regional cities can offer a slower pace and lower expenses. Japan has four main islands—Honshu, Hokkaido, Kyushu, and Shikoku—plus Okinawa and many smaller islands, each with distinct scenery and lifestyles. Foreign professionals generally need an employer-sponsored work visa, with the Engineer/Specialist in Humanities/International Services status common for business roles. A Certificate of Eligibility is normally arranged before arrival. Relocating requires planning for housing, residence registration, health insurance, taxes, banking, and learning workplace Japanese.
