Destination Guide

Japan offers strong opportunities in technology, finance, telecommunications, manufacturing, tourism, healthcare, and international business, especially in Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, and Fukuoka. Workplace culture values punctuality, preparation, teamwork, and respect for hierarchy, although global companies may be more flexible. Daily life is safe and convenient, with excellent public transport, reliable services, and varied food and entertainment. Tokyo provides the widest career options but has high housing costs; regional cities offer a slower pace and lower expenses. Foreign professionals usually need an employer-sponsored work visa, such as an Engineer/Specialist in Humanities/International Services visa, and must meet education or experience requirements. Relocating typically involves arranging housing, residence registration, health insurance, a bank account, and a phone contract. Japanese ability is a major advantage for employment and everyday integration, even when English is used at work.
