Workplace culture values reliability, teamwork, preparation, and respect for hierarchy, while global companies may use more flexible and English-friendly practices. Lifestyle ranges from Tokyo's dense urban convenience to quieter regional communities, with excellent public transport, healthcare, food, and safety. Living costs are highest in Tokyo, particularly for housing. Eligible professional employees generally need an Engineer/Specialist in Humanities/International Services visa, supported by the employer and based on qualifications and job duties. Highly skilled professionals may qualify for a points-based visa with faster benefits. Relocation commonly involves securing housing, registering an address, arranging health insurance and a bank account, and adapting to local administrative procedures.
