Destination Guide

Japan offers strong opportunities in technology, telecommunications, software engineering, data, finance, manufacturing, healthcare, tourism, and international business. Tokyo provides the widest range of roles, while Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka, and regional cities can offer lower living costs and growing technology markets. Japanese workplace culture values punctuality, respect, teamwork, preparation, and careful communication. Daily life is generally safe, convenient, and supported by excellent public transport, healthcare, retail, and food services, though housing and commuting in Tokyo can be expensive. English-only roles exist, especially in global technology companies, but Japanese ability significantly improves career and social opportunities. Foreign employees usually need an appropriate work visa, commonly an Engineer/Specialist in Humanities/International Services visa, supported by the employer. Relocating involves securing housing, registering residence, arranging health insurance, and adapting to local administrative procedures.
