Destination Guide

Japan offers varied career opportunities in technology, e-commerce, finance, telecommunications, tourism, manufacturing, education, and corporate sales. Tokyo is the largest employment hub, while Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka, Sapporo, and Okinawa offer different lifestyles and industries. Japanese workplace culture commonly values punctuality, preparation, teamwork, respect for hierarchy, and careful communication, although international companies may be more flexible. Daily life is convenient, safe, and supported by excellent public transport, but housing and living costs are highest in major cities. Foreign professionals normally need an appropriate work visa, such as Engineer/Specialist in Humanities/International Services; the employer usually supports the application after issuing a contract. A valid passport, degree or relevant experience, residence registration, health insurance, and tax procedures are also important. Before relocating, candidates should confirm language expectations, relocation assistance, housing arrangements, and whether the role requires office attendance. Learning practical Japanese greatly improves workplace integration and everyday life.
