Destination Guide

Japan offers strong opportunities in technology, e-commerce, finance, telecommunications, consulting, manufacturing, hospitality, and corporate operations. Tokyo provides the widest range of international jobs, while Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka, Sapporo, and Okinawa offer different professional and lifestyle choices. Japanese workplace culture generally values punctuality, preparation, respect for hierarchy, teamwork, and careful communication. Daily life is safe and convenient, with excellent public transport, reliable services, and varied food and entertainment, although housing and commuting in Tokyo can be expensive. Foreign professionals usually need an employer-sponsored work visa, commonly under an Engineer, Specialist in Humanities, or International Services status. Employers normally support the Certificate of Eligibility process. Relocating requires arranging housing, residence registration, health insurance, a bank account, and often a phone contract. Learning practical Japanese greatly improves workplace integration and everyday life, even when the company uses English.
