Destination Guide

Japan offers strong opportunities in technology, telecommunications, finance, manufacturing, tourism, healthcare, and international business. Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, and Fukuoka are the largest employment centers, while regional cities can provide a quieter and often less expensive lifestyle. Japanese workplaces value punctuality, preparation, teamwork, respect for hierarchy, and careful communication, although international companies may have more flexible cultures. Daily life is safe, convenient, and supported by excellent public transport, healthcare, and reliable services. Housing and commuting costs are highest in Tokyo. Foreign professionals generally need an employer-sponsored work visa, with eligibility depending on qualifications and job duties; highly skilled workers may qualify for preferential treatment. Before relocating, arrange a residence card, registered address, health insurance, tax registration, and a Japanese bank account. Learning basic Japanese is strongly recommended for administration and everyday life, even when English is used at work.
