Destination Guide

Japan offers strong opportunities in technology, data, telecommunications, finance, manufacturing, tourism, and international business, especially in Tokyo, Osaka, Yokohama, Nagoya, and Fukuoka. Workplace culture often values punctuality, teamwork, respect, careful planning, and long-term relationships. International companies may use English, but Japanese ability significantly improves career options and daily life. Japan provides excellent public transport, reliable services, safe cities, varied food, and convenient access to mountains, beaches, and historic towns. Tokyo is exciting but expensive; regional cities generally offer lower housing costs and a slower pace. Foreign employees usually need an appropriate work visa, commonly sponsored by the employer, and must arrange residence registration, health insurance, pension, and a local bank account after arrival. Before relocating, candidates should confirm visa sponsorship, relocation assistance, language expectations, housing support, and whether the role requires office attendance.
