Destination Guide

Japan offers strong opportunities in technology, telecommunications, consulting, finance, manufacturing, tourism, and international business. Tokyo provides the largest concentration of professional roles, while Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka, and Sapporo offer growing alternatives. Work culture values reliability, teamwork, preparation, and respect for hierarchy, although global companies often provide more flexible and international environments. Daily life is safe, efficient, and convenient, with excellent public transport, healthcare, food, and cultural activities. Living costs are highest in Tokyo, especially for housing. Foreign professionals commonly need an appropriate work visa, such as an Engineer/Specialist in Humanities/International Services visa or a Highly Skilled Professional visa. Employers often sponsor the application, but qualifications and documentation are required. Relocating employees should arrange housing, residence registration, health insurance, a bank account, and tax procedures after arrival. Learning practical Japanese can significantly improve workplace integration and everyday life.
