Destination Guide

Japan offers strong opportunities in software engineering, cloud computing, data, cybersecurity, finance, e-commerce, tourism, healthcare, and project management. Tokyo provides the widest choice of international employers and generally the highest salaries, while Osaka, Fukuoka, Nagoya, and Sapporo can offer lower living costs and growing technology markets. Japanese workplaces value punctuality, preparation, teamwork, respect, and careful communication, although multinational companies may be more flexible. Daily life is safe and convenient, with excellent public transport, reliable services, and varied housing options; Tokyo rents can be expensive. Foreign professionals usually need an employer-sponsored work visa, commonly under an Engineer/Specialist in Humanities/International Services status, and must meet education or experience requirements. Employers often assist with sponsorship and relocation, but applicants should confirm language expectations, health insurance, taxes, housing, and residence registration before moving.
