Destination Guide

Japan offers strong opportunities in technology, finance, e-commerce, engineering, healthcare, education, hospitality, and corporate services. Tokyo has the widest range of international jobs, while Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka, and Sapporo provide attractive alternatives with lower living costs. Japanese workplaces value punctuality, teamwork, politeness, and careful communication; international companies may have more flexible cultures. Lifestyle varies from energetic urban living to quieter coastal and rural communities, with excellent public transport, safety, healthcare, and food. Housing in Tokyo can be expensive, and newcomers should budget for deposits and agency fees. Most foreign professionals need a work visa sponsored by an employer, such as an Engineer/Specialist in Humanities/International Services visa. Highly skilled professionals may qualify for a faster-track visa. Before relocating, arrange a passport, employment contract, residence procedures, health insurance, tax registration, and suitable accommodation. Learning practical Japanese greatly improves daily life and career prospects.
