Destination Guide

Japan offers strong opportunities in technology, e-commerce, finance, marketing, engineering, hospitality, education, and international business. Tokyo has the broadest job market, while Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka, and Sapporo also provide growing opportunities. Japanese workplaces value reliability, teamwork, respect, and attention to detail; international companies may use more English, but Japanese ability significantly improves career prospects and daily life. Japan offers excellent public transport, healthcare, safety, food, and cultural experiences, although housing and living costs are high in major cities. Most overseas professionals need an employer-sponsored work visa, such as the Engineer/Specialist in Humanities/International Services visa. Applicants normally need a relevant degree or professional experience, and the employer usually supports the Certificate of Eligibility process. Before relocating, arrange housing, health insurance, tax registration, and residence procedures. Learning basic Japanese and understanding workplace etiquette will make settling in much easier.
