Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island, but Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah is a prominent man-made island and a major hospitality hub. Hotels, resorts, restaurants, retail businesses and tourism companies offer opportunities for international workers, especially in housekeeping, food and beverage, engineering and guest services. UAE life is modern, multicultural and generally safe, with excellent shopping, beaches, public transport and year-round sunshine. Islamic customs are important, so modest dress and respectful behavior are expected in public and during Ramadan. Employers normally sponsor a work visa, arrange medical testing and process the Emirates ID and residency permit after hiring. Confirm that the employer covers recruitment, visa and travel costs before accepting an offer. Accommodation and transport are often provided for hotel staff. Living costs can be high, particularly for private housing, while Dubai offers a busy lifestyle and strong international connections.
