Destination Guide

Indonesia is an archipelago of more than 17,000 islands, with the strongest hospitality job markets in Java, Bali, Lombok, Batam and major cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya. Opportunities include hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism, marine activities, wellness and events. Jakarta offers fast-paced urban living, extensive transport links and higher business activity, while Bali and Lombok provide a more relaxed lifestyle but can have seasonal employment and higher tourist-area costs. Indonesian culture values politeness, community, religious diversity and respect for local customs; learning basic Bahasa Indonesia is very useful. Living costs vary significantly by island and neighborhood. Foreign nationals normally require an employer-sponsored work permit and KITAS, and must not work on a tourist visa. Confirm salary, accommodation, insurance, meals, transport, relocation support and permit responsibility before accepting an offer.
