Destination Guide

Phuket is Thailand’s largest island and a major tourism and hospitality employment center. Opportunities are concentrated in resorts, restaurants, marine tours, diving, wellness, events, retail and property services, with stronger hiring before the high season from November to April. Local culture blends Thai traditions, Buddhist values, southern Thai food and a welcoming international lifestyle. Phuket offers beaches, island trips, nightlife, markets and outdoor activities, although traffic and living costs in popular areas can be high. Mai Khao and northern Phuket are generally quieter than Patong, Kata or Karon. Foreign employees normally need a Thai employer to sponsor a Non-Immigrant B visa and work permit; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Employers may assist with documentation, accommodation or meals, but this varies. Candidates should verify contract terms, salary, service charge, insurance, visa support and relocation costs before accepting an offer.
