Destination Guide

Seychelles offers employment opportunities in luxury hotels, tourism, marine activities, restaurants, finance, maintenance, healthcare and education, although the job market is relatively small and work permits are important. The country has a relaxed multicultural society influenced by African, European and Asian traditions, with Seychellois Creole, English and French widely used. Island life is warm, scenic and outdoors-oriented, with beaches, hiking, diving and boating, but imported goods and housing can be expensive. Praslin is quieter than Mahé and has fewer services, so relocation may involve living in employer-provided accommodation or nearby staff housing. Foreign employees generally need a Gainful Occupation Permit, usually arranged with employer support before starting work. Candidates should confirm salary, accommodation, meals, medical cover, transport, flights and contract terms before accepting an offer.
