Destination Guide

Bahrain is a small Gulf island country with a diverse hospitality and tourism sector. Job opportunities are found in luxury hotels, restaurants, catering, events, retail and wellness, with Manama and resort areas offering the greatest concentration of roles. The culture combines Arab traditions, Islamic customs and a comparatively cosmopolitan expatriate community. Residents enjoy modern malls, restaurants, beaches, museums, motorsport and lively weekend dining, while summers are extremely hot and humid. Employers normally sponsor work visas for overseas hires; the process generally includes an employment contract, medical checks, residence authorization and an identification card. Confirm sponsorship, accommodation, transport, insurance, leave and end-of-service benefits before relocating. Many hotel packages include housing, meals and transport, which can substantially reduce living costs. English is widely used in international workplaces, while Arabic is the official language.
