Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island but a federation of seven emirates, with Dubai offering particularly strong opportunities in hotels, tourism, facilities management, construction, retail, aviation and technology. The culture is multicultural and generally conservative, so respectful clothing, appropriate public behavior and sensitivity toward Islamic traditions are important. Dubai provides a modern lifestyle with excellent transport, shopping, beaches, restaurants and entertainment, although housing and summer temperatures can be challenging. Most overseas employees work under an employer-sponsored residence visa; the employer normally arranges the work permit, medical checks and Emirates ID process. Never work on a tourist visa. Before relocating, confirm salary, accommodation, transport, meals, medical insurance, leave, probation terms and repatriation arrangements in writing. Bring authenticated qualifications where required and budget for initial expenses. UAE employment regulations and visa rules can change, so verify details with the employer and official government sources.
