Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates, especially Dubai, offers opportunities in hospitality, tourism, restaurants, retail, aviation, events, finance, technology, and construction. The culture is multicultural but influenced by Islamic traditions, so respectful dress and behavior are important, particularly during Ramadan and in public places. Dubai provides a modern lifestyle with excellent transport, shopping, beaches, dining, and entertainment, although housing and leisure costs can be high. Most expatriate employees receive an employer-sponsored work and residence visa; the employer normally handles medical testing, Emirates ID, and related processing. Confirm whether accommodation, transport, meals, insurance, flights, and service charge are included before accepting an offer. New arrivals should budget for deposits and initial living expenses. Public alcohol consumption, drugs, and working without the correct permit are strictly regulated. Dubai is generally safe, hot for much of the year, and well connected internationally.
