Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island country, but it offers island-style living through destinations such as Bluewaters Island, Palm Jumeirah, and Saadiyat Island. Hospitality, tourism, restaurants, retail, aviation, and events provide many employment opportunities, particularly in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The culture is multicultural and welcoming, while Islamic traditions influence dress, public behavior, and holidays. Lifestyle options range from beaches, water sports, and desert activities to shopping, dining, and nightlife. Most expatriate employees work under an employer-sponsored residence visa, with the company commonly arranging medical tests, Emirates ID processing, and work permits. Relocation packages may include accommodation, transport, flights, insurance, and meals, depending on the employer. Costs can be high, especially for housing, so benefits should be confirmed before accepting an offer.
