Destination Guide

The UAE is a federation of seven emirates rather than an island, with Dubai offering particularly strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, construction, aviation, retail and facilities management. The culture combines Emirati traditions, Islamic values and a highly international expatriate community. Dubai’s lifestyle includes beaches, shopping, dining, desert activities and a busy urban environment, although housing and transport costs can be high. Employers commonly sponsor work visas for overseas hires; the process normally includes an employment offer, entry permit, medical examination, Emirates ID and residence visa. Many hotels provide staff accommodation, meals, transport, health insurance and annual flights, but these benefits should be confirmed in writing. Candidates should bring attested qualifications where required and ensure their passport remains valid. Respectful clothing and behavior are expected, particularly during Ramadan and in public places. Dubai has excellent air connections and a large expatriate support network.
