Destination Guide

Malaysia offers hospitality and culinary opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Sabah, Sarawak and Johor, with hotels, resorts and restaurants regularly hiring trained staff. Johor Iskandar Puteri is on the mainland, close to Singapore, rather than on an island; it has a modern, family-oriented lifestyle, shopping, theme parks and easy road connections. Malaysian culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous influences, and English is commonly used in hotels. Living costs are generally moderate, though accommodation near major tourist areas can be higher. Foreign workers normally require an employer-sponsored work permit and should not begin employment before approval. Employers often guide candidates through medical checks, immigration paperwork and relocation arrangements, but benefits vary. Candidates should confirm salary, housing, meals, transport, insurance, contract terms and permit responsibility before moving. Penang and Langkawi offer stronger island tourism lifestyles, while Johor provides access to Singapore and broader year-round employment.
