Destination Guide

Bahrain is a compact Gulf island nation with a diverse hospitality, retail, aviation, finance and business-services economy. Hotels and resorts regularly recruit housekeeping, food and beverage, culinary, engineering, spa and guest-relations staff, particularly in Manama, Juffair, Seef, Amwaj and the Sakhir area. The culture combines Arab traditions, Islamic customs and a sizeable expatriate community. English is widely used in workplaces. Lifestyle options include beaches, malls, restaurants, historical sites and desert activities, while summer is extremely hot and humid. Employers commonly sponsor work visas and residence permits for overseas hires; employees should not work on a tourist visa. Relocation packages may include accommodation, meals, transport, medical cover and annual air tickets, but these vary by contract. Applicants should confirm salary, working hours, benefits, probation terms and who pays visa costs before accepting an offer. Bahrain is generally easy to navigate, though living expenses and accommodation choices differ considerably.
