Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island, although Dubai includes man-made islands and offers a coastal lifestyle. Hospitality, tourism, aviation, retail, events and food and beverage provide many job opportunities, particularly in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The culture blends Emirati traditions with a large international community; modest dress in public areas, respect for Islam and awareness of local laws are important. Lifestyle is modern and energetic, with beaches, shopping malls, desert activities, restaurants and year-round events, though summers are extremely hot. For employment, the company normally arranges a work permit and residence visa after an offer is accepted. New arrivals usually complete medical screening, Emirates ID registration and other onboarding requirements. Do not work on a tourist visa. Accommodation or an allowance, transport, insurance and flights may be included, but applicants should confirm all terms in writing before relocating.
