Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island nation, but Dubai and the other emirates offer strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, retail, aviation, events, and business services. The culture combines Emirati traditions with a highly international population; modest dress, respectful behaviour, and awareness of Islamic customs are important. Dubai provides a fast-paced lifestyle, excellent public transport, modern shopping and entertainment, beaches, and desert activities, though accommodation and schooling can be expensive. Most overseas employees need an employment visa sponsored by their employer, who generally arranges medical checks, Emirates ID processing, and residency formalities. Candidates should confirm salary, accommodation, meals, transport, insurance, leave, and contract terms before relocating. Summers are extremely hot, while winters are generally warm and comfortable. English is widely used in workplaces, although Arabic is the official language.
