Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island, but it is a popular Gulf destination with strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, events, retail and aviation, particularly in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The culture blends Emirati traditions with a highly international population; modest dress, respectful behaviour and awareness of Islamic customs are important. Lifestyle options include beaches, desert activities, shopping, dining and a vibrant expatriate social scene. Most overseas employees require employer-sponsored residence and work visas. Employers commonly arrange visa processing and may provide medical insurance, transport, accommodation or an allowance, depending on the contract. Candidates should confirm salary, service charge, working hours, accommodation, leave, probation and repatriation terms before accepting. Dubai is convenient but relatively expensive, so housing and commuting costs should be assessed carefully. Bring attested qualifications where requested and ensure passport validity before relocation.
