Destination Guide

Maldives resort islands offer employment in hospitality, food and beverage, housekeeping, front office, marine activities, wellness, childcare, engineering, finance, and guest entertainment. The culture is shaped by Islam, island traditions, fishing, family life, and strong respect for community customs. Resorts are generally more international and relaxed, while local islands require modest clothing and sensitivity around alcohol, public behavior, and religious practices. Life on a resort island is scenic but remote, with limited shopping and medical services; accommodation and meals are usually provided by the employer. Foreign workers normally require an employer-sponsored Employment Approval and work visa, with medical checks and approved documentation before or after arrival. Candidates should confirm salary, service charge, flights, leave, insurance, accommodation, and visa responsibility in writing. Relocation involves adapting to heat, humidity, boat or seaplane transfers, shared staff housing, and working weekends or holidays. English is widely used in resorts.
