Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island, but it offers coastal living, modern cities and strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, retail, aviation, technology and business services. Ras Al Khaimah is quieter and more nature-focused than Dubai, with beaches, mountains, desert activities and a growing resort industry. UAE culture blends Emirati traditions with a large international expatriate community; modest dress and respect for Islamic customs are important, especially during Ramadan. Lifestyle is generally comfortable, with excellent roads, shopping, restaurants and healthcare, although summer temperatures are extremely high. Most overseas employees require employer-sponsored residence and work visas, usually arranged after receiving an employment offer. Employers may also provide accommodation, transport, medical insurance, flights or relocation assistance, but these benefits should be confirmed in writing. A passport, legalized qualifications where required and medical testing may be necessary.
