The Duty Technician supports the hotel’s Engineering and Maintenance department by carrying out preventive and corrective maintenance across guest rooms, public areas and back-of-house facilities. Typical duties include responding to repair requests, inspecting electrical, plumbing, air-conditioning and mechanical systems, recording completed work, and helping maintain a safe, comfortable environment for guests and colleagues. Candidates are generally expected to have technical or vocational training and practical experience in hotel maintenance, facilities management or a related trade. Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems, good troubleshooting skills, safety awareness, flexibility for shift work and the ability to work independently or as part of a team are important. Experience in a luxury hotel and relevant technical certifications would be advantageous.

The United Arab Emirates is not an island, although Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah is a man-made island and a major hospitality destination. Job opportunities are strong in hotels, restaurants, tourism, retail, aviation, construction, engineering and facilities management, particularly in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. UAE culture blends Islamic traditions with a highly international population; modest dress, respectful behaviour and awareness of Ramadan customs are appreciated. Lifestyle options include beaches, shopping, desert activities, dining and a lively expatriate community, though housing and transport costs can be high. Most overseas employees require an employer-sponsored residence visa and work permit; the employer normally arranges medical testing, Emirates ID and visa processing. Confirm the full package, accommodation, transport, insurance, contract terms and recruitment fees before relocating. Dubai has hot summers, so air-conditioned workplaces and accommodation are important.
