Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island but a federation of seven emirates, with Dubai and Abu Dhabi offering the largest concentration of professional opportunities. Aviation, technology, cybersecurity, finance, logistics, tourism, construction and healthcare are major employment sectors. UAE workplaces are international, while local culture values hospitality, respect, family and religious traditions. Life is generally modern and convenient, with excellent transport, restaurants, shopping and leisure facilities, although summer temperatures are extremely high. Employees normally need an employment entry permit and residence visa sponsored by their employer; medical checks, identity registration and document attestation may be required. Emiratisation positions are intended for UAE nationals and have specific eligibility conditions. Before relocating, confirm salary structure, housing or transport allowances, health insurance, probation terms and visa sponsorship. Dubai and Abu Dhabi are relatively expensive, so accommodation and commuting costs should be included in financial planning. Respect local laws, dress appropriately in formal settings and observe Ramadan etiquette.
