Destination Guide

Indonesia offers diverse opportunities in hospitality, engineering, tourism, construction, technology and marine services. Bali is the most internationally oriented island, with strong resort employment in areas such as Nusa Dua, Seminyak and Ubud. Java, particularly Jakarta, provides broader corporate and hotel opportunities, while Lombok, Batam and other islands offer expanding resort and infrastructure projects. Indonesian culture values respect, community, hospitality and religious diversity; customs vary considerably between islands. Lifestyle ranges from busy urban living to relaxed coastal communities, with generally affordable local food and transport, although popular tourist areas can be expensive. Foreign employees normally need employer sponsorship for a work visa and work permit, and should not work on a tourist visa. Employers commonly assist with immigration, accommodation, flights, insurance and relocation, but benefits must be confirmed in the contract. Learn about local regulations, health cover, housing, weather and transport before moving.
