Destination Guide

Indonesia is an archipelago with varied opportunities across Java, Bali, Sumatra, Sulawesi and other islands. Jakarta, on Java, offers the widest range of corporate, hotel, finance and sales careers, while Bali is especially strong in tourism, resorts, events and hospitality. Indonesian workplace culture values courtesy, relationship-building, hierarchy and teamwork; English is useful in international hotels, while Bahasa Indonesia is important for daily life. Jakarta offers excellent dining, shopping and professional networks but has heavy traffic and a fast-paced lifestyle. Bali provides a more relaxed environment, although housing and tourism-area costs can be high. Foreign employees normally need employer sponsorship and an appropriate work permit and stay authorization before starting work. Candidates should confirm current immigration rules, taxes, healthcare, accommodation and relocation support directly with the employer.
