Destination Guide

Indonesia offers hospitality opportunities in Jakarta, Bali, Lombok, Batam and other resort destinations, with demand for experienced managers in hotels, restaurants, wellness and tourism. The culture values respect, friendliness, family ties and religious diversity; modest dress and sensitivity to local customs are important. Lifestyle varies from fast-paced urban living in Jakarta to relaxed beach life in Bali or Lombok. International hires normally need an employer-sponsored work and stay permit, commonly arranged through the company before employment begins; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Relocating employees should confirm housing, tax, medical insurance, dependent permits and contract benefits with the employer. English is useful in luxury hotels, while Bahasa Indonesia improves daily communication. Indonesia has a tropical climate, affordable local food and transport, but traffic and seasonal weather should be considered when choosing a location.
