Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island but a federation of seven emirates, with Dubai and Abu Dhabi offering the largest hospitality job markets. Opportunities are available in luxury hotels, restaurants, resorts, catering, events and tourism, particularly for experienced international candidates. The culture combines Islamic traditions, Emirati heritage and a highly diverse expatriate community. English is widely used in business, while Arabic and Asian languages can be valuable in guest-facing roles. Lifestyle options range from beaches, shopping and restaurants to desert activities and cultural attractions. Summers are extremely hot, so indoor facilities and air-conditioned transport are important. Most foreign employees require employer-sponsored residence and work visas; the employer normally arranges the process after hiring and medical checks. Candidates should verify contract terms, accommodation, transport, insurance, gratuity and annual leave before relocating. Costs vary considerably, especially in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
