Job Description

The Marketing Communication Executive is expected to support Shangri-La’s brand communication, public relations, digital marketing, social media, content creation, media coordination and promotional campaigns. Candidates typically need a diploma or degree in marketing, communications, public relations, hospitality or a related field, along with strong writing, presentation and organisational skills. Experience in hotel marketing, media relations or luxury hospitality is an advantage. The role requires creativity, attention to detail, confidence working with internal departments and external partners, and the ability to manage several deadlines. The successful candidate should present a polished professional image and contribute to consistent, guest-focused brand messaging.

Company Info

Shangri-La is a major luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong, operating hotels, resorts and related businesses across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international markets. The company is known for warm Asian hospitality, personalised guest service and premium accommodation. Its properties include city hotels, beach resorts and destination resorts, often supported by restaurants, spas, conference facilities and leisure activities. Shangri-La places strong emphasis on service culture, employee development, sustainability and creating memorable experiences for guests. In Malaysia, the group has operated well-known properties in locations such as Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Kota Kinabalu. Marketing communication roles may involve promoting rooms, dining, events, seasonal campaigns and the wider hotel brand through media, digital channels, partnerships and community engagement.

Destination Guide

Malaysia offers hospitality and marketing opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Sabah and Sarawak, with resorts frequently recruiting in guest services, food and beverage, sales, events, wellness and communications. Island life in Langkawi or Penang is relaxed and multicultural, combining Malay, Chinese, Indian and Indigenous influences, excellent food, beaches and outdoor activities. Living costs vary: Penang and Langkawi are generally more affordable than Kuala Lumpur, although resort locations may have fewer housing and transport choices. Malaysia’s tropical climate is warm and humid year-round, with heavier rain during monsoon periods. Foreign employees usually need an employment pass sponsored by the hiring company; requirements and approval depend on nationality, salary and role. Employers commonly assist with immigration paperwork, but candidates should confirm benefits, accommodation, insurance and relocation support before accepting an offer. Learning basic Malay and respecting local customs will help newcomers settle in.
