Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact island city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, food and beverage, tourism, retail, finance and technology. Its culture blends Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences, reflected in its food, festivals and languages. The lifestyle is convenient and safe, with excellent public transport, modern healthcare, shopping centres and a lively dining scene. Rent can be high, especially near central areas, so many workers share accommodation or live farther from the hotel. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored work pass; the appropriate pass depends on salary, qualifications and role, while the employer normally handles the application. New arrivals should budget for housing deposits, transport and daily expenses, and check contract terms carefully. Singapore’s hot, humid climate and busy service industry make adaptability and reliable attendance especially important.
