Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact island city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, engineering, construction, technology, finance, healthcare and logistics. Its culture is multicultural, with English widely used alongside Mandarin, Malay and Tamil. The lifestyle is safe, efficient and urban, with excellent public transport, diverse food, shopping, parks and nearby regional travel. Accommodation and daily expenses, especially rent, can be high, so budgeting is important. Foreign professionals generally need an employer-sponsored work pass; the Employment Pass is commonly used for eligible professional roles, while the S Pass may apply to qualifying mid-skilled positions, subject to salary and quota requirements. Employers normally handle much of the application process, but candidates must meet current Ministry of Manpower criteria. New arrivals should arrange housing, insurance, banking and a local SIM card, and verify employment terms, pass eligibility and relocation support before accepting an offer.
