Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers strong employment opportunities in hotels, restaurants, retail, finance, logistics, technology and professional services. Hospitality work is concentrated in areas such as Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, Tsim Sha Tsui, Central, Causeway Bay and the airport. The culture is fast-paced, international and respectful of hierarchy, while Cantonese is widely used; English is important in hotels and Mandarin is useful. Public transport is excellent, although housing is expensive and living space is often limited. Employees should budget carefully for rent, transport, food and healthcare. Foreign nationals generally need an employer-sponsored employment visa before starting work, and the role must meet immigration requirements. Employers may assist with visa documentation, but applicants should confirm current rules with Hong Kong Immigration. A valid passport, employment contract and proof of qualifications or experience may be required.
