Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly developed island city-state with strong opportunities in hotels, tourism, restaurants, retail, finance, technology and logistics. English is widely used at work, while Mandarin, Malay and Tamil are also official languages. The culture is multicultural, orderly and generally safe, with excellent public transport, modern healthcare and abundant food options. Housing and daily expenses can be high, especially near central areas, so employees often compare shared accommodation or locations close to MRT stations. Singapore has a warm, humid climate throughout the year with frequent rain. Foreign employees must obtain an appropriate work pass, usually arranged or sponsored by the employer; eligibility depends on salary, qualifications and the role. New arrivals should verify current Ministry of Manpower requirements, prepare suitable identification and budget for deposits, transport and medical needs.
