Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact island city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, engineering, facilities management, technology, finance and logistics. Its multicultural society blends Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences, reflected in its food, festivals and languages. Life is modern, safe and highly connected, with efficient public transport, excellent healthcare and many shopping, dining and entertainment options. Housing and daily expenses can be high, particularly near central areas, so employer accommodation or a carefully planned budget is useful. Foreign employees generally need an appropriate work pass, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass or Work Permit; eligibility depends on salary, qualifications, occupation and government approval. Employers usually support the application, but candidates should confirm pass type and conditions before accepting an offer. Singapore's warm, humid weather suits outdoor living, although thunderstorms are common.
